Electric Gremlin

Our household is on the electric and telecommunications grid like most everyone in the U.S. and other developed countries that consume power.

So, when I plug my iPhone or coffee pot into power outlet on our wall, isn’t it connected via continuous interconnected pieces of metal to other things around the globe that also require wires and cables for power and telecommunication connectivity?

Despite being in an age of fiber optics and satellite communications, I propose that our household appliances are connected to elements of the Golden Gate Bridge, the White House, the Eiffel Tower, Saddam Hussein’s palaces, and the Great Wall of China.

Can you imagine being a unit of energy capable of following a continuous route of wires and cables to virtually anywhere in civilization?

We’ve wrapped this blue marble in an interconnected ball of wire and cables.

(Queue some sparky to hop on here and say that two separate pieces of metal can never really touch each other except through a substantial form/phase altering chemical process.)

(Queue ‘what the bleep do we know’ to say that no unit of existence ever touches another unit of existence.)

(Queue that one Gremlin wrecking havok on grid systems in New England.)
